Great Aussie Rickshaw Ride Tuesday 3/8

Tuesday 3 August

We woke up in Port Macquarie to a howling south easterly wind and frequent showers.  Nothing much changed during the morning and we decided to cancel most of the riding for the day for safety reasons.

We drove down to North Haven and had a good lunch with some kind folk from the Baptist Church there and talked about the Rickshaw Ride and the Symbiosis work in Bangladesh.

After lunch, a couple of brave souls, Wal and Wendy rode the two rickshaws into Laurieton through cold winds and scattered showers.  The local newspaper was impressed enough to take some pictures and the lads from the Laurieton Cycle Shop also got a bit excited about the strange wheeled contraptions that turned up on their doorstep.

Khaleque was very impressed with some of the bicycles in the shop but was particularly scratching his head when they told him the cycle by the doorway cost $7,000.  A bit hard to justify a $7,000 bicycle in Bangladesh!
