Great Aussie Rickshaw Ride Thursday 5 August

Thursday 5 August

Oops, it's getting a little cool at night and Khaleque and Hozrot are not enjoying it much.  Hozrot has a balaclava that he is wearing at night as well as a scarf wrapped around his head.  Apparently there is plenty of snow waiting for them down south, which will be a real shock for them.

There was no road riding today but we had a good day anyway.  We spent a couple of hours in the Taree City Centre Mall this morning.  It was a good place to be, as many people saw the rickshaw display and quite a few got involved in discussions and took our material.  We were visited by the Manning River Press people as well as the local NBN TV reporters.  Unfortunately we didn't make the evening news.  We were upstaged by a baby pygmy hippo in the curiosity spot at the end of the news.

Never mind.  Hozrot had a good time with a couple of Bangladeshis he met in the Mall. We bought a new battery for Khaleque's watch in a jeweller's shop in the mall and he and Hozrot were a little overwhelmed at the price of some of the jewellery in the shop.  "Australia is an expensive place" they reckon.

We presented the rickshaw story to the kids at Nabiac Public School in the afternoon and were well-received by kids and teachers.  The teachers were impressed with our material and Michelle, the Assistant Principal, suggested to the kids that they should tell their parents about what they had seen.

We stayed at Bulahdelah for the night.
