Friday 30 July
There was no rickshaw riding on the road this morning. We visited Macksville Primary School late in the morning. The whole school filled the hall to hear the story of Raju the rickshaw wallah and the Millennium Development Goals. We then drove part way down to Kempsey to meet up with Rob Boss-Walker who rode the last section into Kempsey.
The drive down was beautiful, with the highway lined with wattle trees in full flower – a nice sight for our Bangladeshi friends. The rickshaw ride into Kempsey passed through some beautiful dairy cow country – lush green pastures and fine looking cows. The road was mostly flat which was a bit of a blessing also.
Rob and the rickshaw arrived at the Clyde Street Mall in Kempsey at about 3:00 PM and were welcomed by the Mayor of Kempsey, John Bowell and a representative of the local newspaper, the Macleay Argus.
