Woolgoolga, NSW

The Great Aussie Rickshaw Ride idled down from Grafton and spent much of today in the lovely coastal town of Woolgoolga, NSW.  We had a couple of great visits with kids at the St Francis Xavier School and the Woolgoolga Primary School.  The younger kids were tickled with Kevin and Valma's new puppet show and got seriously involved with what Khaleque and Hozrot, our two Bangladeshi Symbiosis workers had to tell them about life in Bangladesh.

We felt that the message of the MDGs and the plight of the poor people of Bangladesh got through to many of them.  One of the teachers, Carolyn, thought that it was a day that many of the kids would remember for a long time and she said she would be using the Bangladesh Rickshaw material in her teaching in the coming week.

Of course, riding the rickshaw itself was a highlight for many of the kids; almost as much as seeing their teacher hopping on the rickshaw and doing a quick lap around the covered play area.

A couple of great schools whose staff and kids made us feel very welcome.
