Today the rickshaws moved out of Sydney to Campbelltown. While an
intrepid group braved the morning traffic on the route out of Sydney,
the truck went to Macarthur Square, a shopping centre outside of
Campbelltown. With the permission of the centre management we set up
a display along with a static rickshaw. A few parents took photos of
their children on the rickshaw. John Irwin came from Sydney to help us
man the display. Thanks John. We could not have done it without you.
John Whitehall, Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Western
Sydney, along with some of the students particularly Soondoos and
Denise, organized a lecture at UWS followed by a BBQ lunch. Dr Neil
Parker came down from Toowoomba to participate in the lecture. Neil
spoke about the neo-natal tetanus and its prevention in Bangladesh.
John Whitehall presented some preliminary results of a survey of
causes of death in newborns in Bangladesh.
After the lecture some of the students rode the rickshaw around the
courtyard area and found that controlling a rickshaw is not that
simple at the first attempt!
Jeff returns to the family in Tasmania tomorrow. Nick went back to
work today. Graeme will be joining the support team tomorrow. Ross,
Bev, Val and Hajrat and Khalek have been with the Rickshaw ride from
the start.
